Dora & Melchior

Two virtual friends of mine are friends. They are passionate and nice. I decided to ask Dora Moutot to answer questions about Melchior Tersen and vice versa. Let's see what I got!

Can you please present Melchior in few words?
Outspoken, talented and outraged.

What's your favorite thing about Melchior?
He's totally honest and CURIOUS.

Best experience with Melchior?
Going to India with him. It was a disaster when we were there, but years later, it's a lot of good memories!

Artistic project you would like to do with Melchior?
I would totally travel again with Melchior. We were maybe thinking of going to this industrial rave goth festival in germany to take pictures and do a reportage.

Melchior's art in 5 words?
Sharp, smart, weird, poetic.

Threesome with Melchior, you and ?
No sex between Melchior and I! Only friendship! So no threesome!

Artistic collaboration with Melchior, you and?
Collab with...Martin Parr (but Melchior told me he's an asshole...)

Flat share with Melchior you and?
Flatshare with Melchior and Nicky Knox!

You can travel back time with Melchior, when do you want to go back and why?
I would just like to see Melchior as a hippy in San Franscico! The idea just makes me laugh...

Your personal current projects?
La Gazette du Mauvais gout! More articles, more shoots, more reportages, organizing events and parties around kitsch and bad taste. Probably a fanzine with Styron Lundberg!

Can you please present Dora in few words?
Dora is a passionate person. She has a real and strong knowledge about the theme she talks about on her website. I've seen her tastes becoming more accurate across the time and, today, she may be the most professional person I know in this field. She is living it, she's not an internet poser. She is a pioneer. You just have to look at her FB pictures to see that she's sincere and real. She's a real anthropologist!

What's your favorite thing about Dora?
I low how enthusiastic she is. She's always in when you propose something and that's pretty unusual! Also I love how crazy she can get about subjects that 95% of people don't even understand.

Best experience with Dora?
2 years ago we went to India together, we've never been there before... it was special but we had a great time! She made macarons with her hair, had a tie dye tee shirt with a dungaree, and also a pair of Vans with pink elephants on them... it was special!

Artistic project you would like to do with Dora?
There are a lot, we have many common interests! For sure, I'd like to do reports with her.

Dora's art in 5 words?
Curious, avant garde, ambitious, popular, specialized

Threesome with Dora, you and ?
Ariel, the little mermaid

Artistic collaboration with Dora, you and?
Lil Kim or Lindsay Lohan

Flat share with Dora you and?
Model Charlotte Free

You can travel back time with Dora, when do you want to go back and why?
80's, I don't see any other period that I'd like to come back to.

Your personal current projects?
Several exhibitions in Paris: Les Gymnopédies (31/03) with lots of other French artists, I'll have a wall during the Blood Brothers music fest and also an exhibition with Fanny Schlichter and the help of my friend Mathyld.

Thank you dolls.

Must visit

The three blogs of Nasty G are among the best blogs on the entire blogosphere imo. I am really glad he accepted to answer some questions and I encourage all my readers to discover hiw work.

Can you please present yourself and your websites!
Nasty G from Toronto, Ontario, Canada - currently run three blogs - The Isle Of Deserted Pop Stars, Lost Pop Treasures and Crown Jewels Of Pop (which is currently inactive)

Who are you all time female icons?
I have so many all-time female icons, but the three that stand out most are Olivia Newton-John during my childhood, Vanity during my teen years, and Kylie Minogue during my adult life.

Which dead celebrity would you like to resuscitate?
If I could resuscitate a dead celebrity I'd likely choose Aaliyah, as she was a risk taker with a unique voice who was just getting into her groove. There are many who copy her style now, but had she lived she would have been a major star today.

Best gig you went to? Best gig you would image?
Best gig I went to was by far Kylie's Aphrodite tour. One word - amazing! Best one I would imagine is her upcoming Anti-Tour doing stripped down rarer tracks. I desperately hope it comes to Canada!

If you could turn back time, when would you like to go back and how?
If I could turn back time I'd like to live in the late 1970s as an adult. Such a fun and free time. I was only a child then, and I wish I had been old enough to get into the bars and party then! LOL

If you could be someone else for a day, who would that be and why?
I'm not sure I would ever want to be someone else, but if I had to I think I'd like to be Grace Jones. I'd love to know what her life is like and how she ticks because she is so bizarre!

What is your very last girl crush? boy crush?
My last girl crush would have to be Camila Grey of Uh Huh Her. I recently saw their latest video and there is just something so sensual about her. And I have many boy crushes, but my current would have to be Adam Levine. I watch The Voice just to watch him. ;)

What is your best discovery on the internet, an album that you were looking for many years for example?
I'd have to say my most exciting discoveries on the internet so far have been the singles by Goddess released after The Sexual Album. It is my fave album but I thought it was all she recorded, and then through the internet I learned that she released three more singles and I managed to track them down. Unfortunately I recently found out that she has passed away. :( And thanks to my blog, many visitors have provided me with albums on my wantlist, which is my favourite thing about doing the blogs. I actually started The Isle to provide a place where people could download "forgotten" albums that they cannot find anywhere else, and I am happy that so many people seem to enjoy it. My quest for rare albums online was my motivation.

What are your future projects?
I'm thinking of creating a few more blogs focusing on rare music (especially newer stuff), not so much for download but just to spotlight it. But since Megaupload and Mulitupload died, I have been spending most of my time trying to re-upload all of the music back onto the blogs, unfortunately.

Anything to add?
Nothing else to add except thanks to you for asking for the interview and to everyone who digs my blogs. Oh, and those amazing people who have shared music with me either on blogs or directly. A shared love of music is a happy and amazing thing.

To conclude I'm going to show you some videos and I'd like you to tell me one word to decribe what you feel about each one!
a) I love Crossover! One word - eclectic.
b) I love MPHO too! One word - reverential.
c) Vanessa is featured on my blog too. One word - belle.
d) Of course I love Shakespear's Sister and especially this song. One word - innovative.
e) Wow, this I've never heard before. One word - surprising?
f) Just got into this a couple of weeks ago. I LOVE female MCs. One word - outstanding!

xoxo

Underrated Vol.3

I've always loved Battant. I saw them live several times and had the occasion to interview them with a very special friend of mine. They were nice and I was really sad when I heard about the death of Joel Dever... I never understood why they did not get more visibility, both in mainstream and undergroud media.

Ah, these Faits divers sessions are amazing! I did not know that channel!

Also, a super cool band on the same label just released a new video clip. Be sure to check them... under 50 listenners on last.fm, it's time to get on board!

Underrated Vol.2

Here is the second post of my underrated session! Clare Maguire, the new glamorously dark diva. Her voice is bit like Cher and Florence Welch. Her album is very well done and beautiful. Unfortunately she did not get all the attention she deserves... be sure to check her vevo.

Underrated

The main point of this blog is to promote artists that are not everywhere on the blogosphere. You guys know which blogs to visit to get all the lastest music releases and all. Consequently, I decided to create this "Underrated" compilation of articles to highlight bands that have wrongly been put aside...

The first one is the Canadian band Lioness. It is formed by Ronnie Morris and Jeff Scheven (controller.controller) Vanessa Fischer (No Dynamics). They are amazing and they already toured with great bands like Hercules and the Love Affair or You Say Party! We Say Die! (now You Say Party!).

OMG New Album OMG

Meg Myers

I've been listenning to Meg for a long time now thanks to Doctor Rosen compilation. The good news is that she recently put her album for free download on her website. Be sure to try this if you like Fiona Apple or Marina & the Diamonds.

What's not to love about that lovely talented girl...

V is for Vanity

After YEARS, I may be able to decide what tattoo I should get. Turo Kamei, Japanese artist, is really blowing my mind at the moment. His artwork is really amazing, full of flowers and morbid/vanity references. Flowers is, in my opinion, the most passionating thing to draw and it gives an infinite range of possibilities. I love the way he uses them and includes an eye in them. What's more beautiful than the skull moon to be honest! Ah... love it!

Once I get that tattoo I will buy that perfect veil and wander in the shadow of the valley of death. Catwalking and dancing flamenco with the sisters under the eye of Ruven Afanador.

Follow the red lips for more...

Darkest Hours

How to dress like a femme with Balmain listenning to the best female heavy metal album of the month! Oh dear... it's so beautiful that it hurts.

Lydia Lunch - Le Volume, Nice, France

Last night was amazing. I've always loved Lydia Lunch and I finally had the occasion to see her live with the excellent Big Sexy Noise. She was lovely, communicated with the crowd, sang her heart out... I wouldn't have expected less from the eternal underground diva.

She also accepted to sign my book and took a picture with me. You can imagine how impressed I was to be in the arms of the outstanding Lydia...

See you, xx

Female Fronted Loud Music

It's no secret for people I know that I love female vocalists and loud music more than anything in this world. I'd like to thank the person in charge of that amazing blogspot for bringing us these amazing compilations. I wonder how much time it took to create them... just go and download them all, you won't regret it! If you're into punk rock, you can also have a look at these compilations that have been around for years. Spread the word and the passion.
