Womeninspiration Vol.2

I have ALWAYS loved Snog, Marry, Avoid. I think the make under part is pathetic but the rest of it is always brilliant. So many different people with great looks and attitude. That's why I love that show, it's diversity at its best, for the best and the worst! At least, it's the occasion to see freaky people on TV Talking about freaky people, I literally fell in love with Kate Hughes in the last SMA? season. She is a lovely outspoken person with a very interesting club kidesque style. She kindly accepted to answer some questions for my blog... here's the presentation video from SMA? already posted on my blog a bit earlier.

Can you please introduce yourself and explain how did you end up doing Snog, Marry, Avoid? What will you remember from this experience?
I am Kate Hughes 24 and live in Manchester. . I am the Queen of shock, Visual Artist, performer, filmmaker and Producer of my own internet TV series Kate’s On (http://www.youtube.com/user/MrKatehughes?feature=mhee) . I am often to be found in the alternative queer club seen of Manchester, . I am known for my look all around the city. think a bondage clad gypsy wedding Pat Butcher mixed with the Bride of Frankenstein. My friend heard Snog, Marry, Avoid? Was coming to Manchester so sent an email on my behalf and then the show called me and it all went from there. It was really fun but hated my make under and am currently being sued for trashing a hotel room I stayed in whilst filming.

Imagine you're the director of a new TV reality show which turns ordinary people into extraordinary creatures. Who would you like to give a makeover to?
I would love to give Kate Middleton a make over. Her look is so clean and proper. I would love to have her as the princess of shock hanging out at Buckingham palace with a taxidermy swan for her crown, wearing 6 inc sluting boots for Queeny’s garden parties.

Imagine you are at the top of the best zombie music festival in the world. Who do you want to resurrect for the show?
Rasputin and Charles Manson

Imagine you come back from the dead as a marvellous ghost. Who would you like to haunt for the rest of their lives? Oooooooo spooky! Do I have long crawly nails?

Imagine you can open your own night club with unlimited budget. How does it look like and who's involved (drag queens, performers...)?

It would have a lot of black and deep purple velvet fabrics with hot gimps suspended from the sealing. The bar would be free but you wouldn’t be aloud in unless you were wearing sexy hot makeup and It would never close. There would be little paper plates on each table with stale crisps, nuts and other nibbles.

Performance wise I would let anyone trashy have a go. I would love to get Divine, Leigh Bowery, Quentin Crisp, Kurt Cobain, Iggy Pop, Soft Cell, Nina Hagen, Elvira Mistress of the Dark, The list could go on forever and some are dead but I am sure that wouldn’t be a problem.

Imagine you're participating to a speed dating session and you have
5 candidates to meet. Who would be the 5 dream candidates?

Hmmmmmmm, I hate any kind of dating to be honest. I think it’s embarrassing and unnecessary. If I had to pick:
1. Frank N. Furter (Rocky Horror Picture Show)
2. John Waters (Film Maker)
3 Jayne Wayne County (singer)
4. Hedwig (From movie Hedwig and the Angry Inch)
5. Charles Manson

Image they finally create a fashion police in the UK and you can eradicate 3 pieces of clothing/accessories of your choice. What would they be?
I would be a bit apprehensive about banning clothing/accessories because almost anything can look good if worn right, there are a few items that the world would be better off without though, ill give you 2:
1. I would ban underwear for people under 40, I would allow bras because no one likes saggy boobs but bottoms would be a no- no. people would feel more loosie goosie and could hang out with their wang out.
2. Adidas Track suite bottoms, thoughts horrible ones with the three stripes down the side. They're so horrible and make me feel sick when people wear them. To wear them would be punishable by death.

Imagine you can be someone else for a day. Who would it be?
Hmmmmmmmmm, let me think. I would want to be someone of the opposite sex because it would be amazing to know what it feels like to be a man for a day. It would also have to be someone with power because I would like to be able to make a big impact. I know!!!!! I would be Prime Minister David Cameron, go on a drug fuelled sex rampage, and finally overdose and die in a seedy gay sauna. It would be ok because I could just go back to being me the next day.

Imagine you are the best cinema director ever. You are about to do a remake of your favorite movie. What would it be and who are the main actors?
Do I have to re-make a movie????? I would rather do my own!
I made a film recently called Agreeable Women (https://vimeo.com/42553250) which was about my family getting murdered in surprising and gruesome ways…. It was really fun to shoot! I am working on a new one called “Disco Balls” at the moment.
Maybe I would re- make a really messed up late night film I saw on BBC 2 a while ago. Its called 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days its about two female college room mates. One needs a back street abortion and the results aren’t pretty. I would re-make it in a dark but funny kind of way
I think I would like to use my friends as the actors because they all look really trashy and get my sense of humor. I would like a short guest appearance form Edith Massy (Actor and Performer) though.

What are your plans for the future?

The future is hard to talk about because it hasn’t happened yet. be a thief, be a shit kicker and one day be famous. I want to interview some amazingly interesting people for my Kate’s On- internet TV series (http://www.youtube.com/user/MrKatehughes?feature=mhee), continue making oddball films, get on some trashy TV shows and perform in more clubs around the country and beyond.

Thank you again Kate and I wish you the best

It's not related to Kate (even though I wouldn't be surprised she likes them) but 45 Grave released a new album and that's a really good news!

If I tell you big beautiful woman (♥) with dark hair and wild attitude... guess who? Beth Ditto? Well yeah it could have been her. But I'm gonna talk about another beautiful garage rock DIVA called Tina Lucchesi.

She's an amazing crazy rock n roll beauty. She played in a million of bands with cool names such as The Glamour Pussies or The Trashwomen. She also created her own label Lipstick Records. I really enjoyed The Bobbyteens when I was younger and yesterday I saw her name on (the HIGHLY recommended website) Grunnenrocks. I realized I did not talk about her before on my blogs... huge mistake. Useless fact: Kreayshawn's mother played in The Trashwomen.

My favorite song with Tina is Hot City Boy. The video is pure perfection... it's everything I love.I would love to meet her and tell her how cool she is without even trying!

I really want everyone to discover that woman because she's fucking great. Nothing more, nothing less. Also, I discovered, thanks to Tina, a movie that I did not know titled Smithereens. And now I really really want to watch it as it's one of her all time favorites! How come I haven't seen that movie?!

Black Thunder Vol.2

If you liked my first entry about Black Thunder, you definitely NEED to check the acoustic performance they made for Google Play. She sings with her heart and soul, and I just adore it. Her voice is super great and the crescendo is well executed. Also, they made a short nice interview. We learn that Mlny Parsonz, the bass player/singer, listened to Tina Turner when she was younger... how perfect is that?! ♥ They're really one of the most powerful and intense bands out there.

Female Fronted Noise

I'm so happy that White Lung from Vancouver released a new album. I love them so much! You can STREAM/BUY it on their bandcamp. It is still wild and crazy with amazingly good vocals. Oh and also, they have a really nice tumblresque artwork. I wish I had a band like that tbh, it's like my dream teenage band. I wish you the best

If you like White Lung (no wonder!), you would probably also like epic similar bands like Vapid, Divorce (crazy energy), Batwings Catwings (amazing post-punk revival), Fever Fever. Also, before I forget, Karolina, a friend of mine, introduced me to this AMAZING underrated band recently... scream, dance and have fun ♥ It's saturday

Play it LOUD readers, xxx

Underrated Vol.4

You probably know Adalita for being a member of the Australian noisy grunge-rock band Magic Dirt.

I cannot believe how great they were... angry, smart and delicate at the same time... imagine Hole having sex with Garbage. Best way to discover Magic Dirt is to watch some videos from their live at Recovery:

RIP Dean Turner (bassist of Magic Dirt)

And the good news is that Adalita is back with her solo project. The album is pure perfection and her voice is more beautiful than ever. I'm so sad that she's not getting all the attention she deserves in the indie scene. She's legendary.

Just so happy that people like her exist

Bye readers and see you soon for another 90's nostalgia post, xxx

Got a Girl Crush ♥

Isn't she lovely?

Blog & Blood

I've always loved Isabella Huppert and the story of Médée. I'm really interested in watching Médée Miracle by Tonino de Bernardi, the contemporary remake of the legend. However, it seems unavailable everywhere. If you have any information about it, please let me know!

I think Isabelle is of the most amazing women on earth. I am deeply moved when I see her acting. Two documentaries featuring her are available on YouTube, Empreintes and Une vie pour jouer. Imagine the surprise when I saw that Isabelle is now part of the cast of Suspiria (the remake!).

For those who haven't seen the cult Suspiria by Dario Argento... if it's even possible... watch it below by clicking on dl.

Talking about bloody movies, I CANNOT wait to watch Excision. Watch the trailer below, NIN music, weird teenager, Traci Lords, John Waters... I WANT
Description given by the director in the interview below: "Like a John Hughes meets a David Cronenberg movie, it is very sort of 80’s teen comedy, maybe Heathers-esc." ...

And finally, I finally bought the rare book by Isild Le Besco, Sang d'Encre. A dark and heartbreaking novel about the troubled teenage years of a young man. It is illustrated by Isild herself.
